Retractable Cable Lock for Exhibits - Secure Earphones, Glasses & Watches

Installed by my mother’s bedside at her nursing home. Works great so far and no more misplaced remotes. Hopefully it will hold up.We got this to keep track of the remote in the playroom. The kids dont love that the remote is stuck to the wall and they have to get up to change their streaming service. But, you know who love it? Mom and Dad. We haven't had to help find the remote, we haven't heard anyone fight about who has the remote or who is touching who with the remote. Amazing.I was soooo tired of trying to find my remote controls for my split king adjustable bed. They would be in hiding or would fall off the bed in the middle of the night making a horrible thudding noise and often the batteries would spill all over and under the bed (of course!). So I saw these laptop locks while browsing for my son's college dorm stuff and lightbulb moment! LOL! They work great! I placed one above the headboard on each end of the bed. Since they are small and black, they don't stand out weirdly. Now we just pull the remote down to adjust bed and then release and it goes right back up to top of headboard! I'm going to do the same for my tv remotes, but I may put them on bedside table when I figure out how to not ruin the wood finish. Otherwise, I'll attach to the wall, which can easily be repaired when removed, if slight damage even occurs.Never wonder where the remote is used on a firestick remote fits fine able to stretch to both ends of a sectional.Adheres and recoils well. BUT if it is tampered with enough the cable breaks looks from the part stuck to the object you wish to attach it to (not the recoiler).It's too bad. This unit is well made: It adheres firmly to the remote control (be sure to get the curved model if your remote is rounded on the bottom) -- as does the reel unit, even without using screws. The cable doesn't kink, and it retracts smoothly. The whole device has a quality feel.But.After using for a while, I realized it lacks one major feature: it should have a ratchet, like a window shade, so that you can extend the cable and then take the tension off. As it is, it's constantly pulling at your remote.It's like a weak toddler is persistently trying to tug the remote out of your hand. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but over time, instead of getting used to it, I found it more and more annoying!There's a neat little locking collar on the cable so you can adjust how much the cable retracts, with an allen wrench they give you. But that defeats the purpose, since then you have a loose cable that's always catching on something. You could achieve that result with a piece of string.I suppose if you only use the remote for one adjustment and then put it down, it works. But if you channel surf, or you want to fast-forward and replay a sports event ... nope. I find myself wrapping the cable around one hand so I can use the remote with the other!Too bad.This was a lifesaver with two toddlers in the house that love to run off with the remote and leave it in all kinds of strange places. I unfortunately need to order another one because the cable snapped after 7 months of heavy daily use. I did have to super glue it to my remote after about 5 months of heavy use, because the adhesive wore out.This is an UPDATE to my initial review of 5 stars. Yes, Strong Adhesive, also came w/ hardware and adjustment tool (little Allen wrench). Like the curved feature to better suit t.v. remote controls, contoured shape. No lost remote in couch cushions, no one walks away with it - always handy. Until the cable breaks. You've got to be super mindful when tugging or puling away from case, as it's retractable. I suggest maybe giving it all the slack with that "adjustability" feature/tool. That way yoyre not having to actually tug at it at all when aiming remote towards t.v. mine broke, I somewhat fixed it temporarily, because i like this concept. That "fix" was short-lived.
